Buckle Pin Pressure Relief Valves
Flange  Valvecare Engineering is a leading light in the development and manufacture of buckling pin valves. Valvecare believe that buckling pin technology is the future of pressure relief and emergency shutdown valves. Buckle Pin valves are an economic and real alternative to traditional rupture disc technologies. Buckling Pin valves work by securing a piston (the only moving part) in place. When an overpressure condition occurs, the pin will buckle, allowing the piston to open the PSV or close the ESV.

Valves can be manufactured to deal with high pressure, low pressure, or vacuum in sizes from 3mm to 1500mm in size. The pin is outside of the protected system and therefore does not see the medium or conditions present in the system. The pins are manufactured from a corrosion resistant alloy appropriate to the external conditions. Conversely rupture discs constantly see the process medium affecting longevity, performance and cost. Buckle Pin valves allow for one man to reset the valve without opening the line and exposing himself and the environment to emissions.
Flange   Benefits:
  • Clean lift at set pressure (no simmering)
  • Not affected by pulsing line pressure or process temperature changes
  • No risk of contamination from rupturing disc.
  • Minutes to replace pin and resume production
  • Operates close to line MOP
  • Opens in milliseconds
  • Bubble tight to set point
  • No fugitive emissions
  • Buckle pin does not fatigue
  • High Capacity
  • Wide size range compared with conventional relief valves
  • Easily accomodates downstream back pressure
  • Capable of full line size flow
  • Lift indicator proximity switches optional
  • Desinged in accordance with API 520, ASME VIII, PED
Flange   Applications:
  • Oil and gas - flare stack bypass, drlling mud
  • Petrochemical - pump protection
  • Food processing - Vacuum relief protection, blocked filter bypass
  • Pharmaceutical - low pressure panel relief valves
  • Nuclear - reactor secondary relief
